Our director, Murat Yaman, was working as a research and teaching assistant at Marmara University. Also, he
was studying to get a MS degree in Computer Science and Engineering.

Summary of Murat Yaman’s role:

* Assistance to two instructors each semester, such as database systems,
software engineering, e-commerce, data communications, C courses. He taught
and practised his students SQL, Access, SQL Server (T-SQL), Oracle (PL-SQL),
ASP, JSP, Delphi, Interbase, Turbo C, software design and implementation full
life cycles, UML, serial communication.

* Internet Centre: Administration of e-mail (Sendmail), web (Apache) and DNS
(BIND) servers, e-mail groups (Majordomo). The operating systems used include
Unix (Solaris), FreeBSD, Linux (Redhat, Mandrake). Website enhancements using
Apache, PHP, MySQL.

* LAN management (Windows networking). PC and network support to faculty staff.

* Maintenance and improvement of student affairs software, which was
developed using Delphi, Interbase, QuickReport. Created new windows, reports.
Developed a website for course add-drops and student grade reports using
Windows Server, IIS, ASP, HTML, ADO, Access, SQL. Developed a small program
to transfer data from Access to Interbase using VB, ADO and SQL.

* One of the instructors of MS Office courses in MS Windows and MS Office Certificate Program.

* Instructor and coordinator of MS Visual Basic Certificate Program (May 2000-Feb 2002).

* For his thesis, We have written console applications using standard C++ and STL.

 

Hosgoru Bridge Club, Istanbul, TURKEY

This club used the popular ACBLscore Bridge Scoring software. The reports
produced were either insufficient or manager requires further information.
Data was obtained from text files into Excel workbooks, and users were
manually producing reports. Excel was used for accounting, and the club did
not have a member database application. So, we were responsible for writing 3
database applications:
Murat Yaman’s Role:

* Designed and developed the project using MS Access 2000/XP and VBA.

* The database application allowed the club to automatically parse and get
data from text files produced by ACBLscore software, turned into players,
teams and tournaments and scores data. Then, “masterpoints” of each player
are calculated according to Turkish Bridge Federation criteria.

* Various reports are presented, such as player statistics, nice score lists
(given date intervals).

* Accounting database application mainly kept information about cash flows.
They can categorize incomes and expenditures, so get reports giving dates.
The balances of bridge instructors and employees of the club, and such
information are information taken from the application.

* Designed another database application to keep personal data of club
members, their balances, yearly membership fees, donations, and related
reports.

Almost everything was done manually. The company did not have any kind of software.
Murat Yaman’s Role:

* Designed and developed the project using MS Access 2000/XP and VBA.

* The database application allowed the company to keep information about
customers, fabrics, accessories, models of clothing (women’s wear) (clothes
are produced using fabrics and various accessories), customer orders, order
tracking, purchase orders, provider companies, sewing factories, ironing
factories, tasks (cutting, sewing and ironing), stocks (fabrics,
accessories).

* Various reports were presented to the user such as customer order tracking,
stocks, tasks, etc.

* Personnel Database was another project to have employee information,
salaries and performance.

 

Farmus Chemicals, Istanbul, TURKEY

This was a database application that allows the firm to keep information about
customers, chemicals, customer orders, employees, etc.
Murat Yaman’s Role:

* Together with an employee, he designed and developed the project using
MS Access 2000 and VBA.

* He taught the employee how to design a database and to program it using MS Access/VBA.

* The software allowed the users to get various reports, including performance charts.

 

Bilgin Water, Istanbul, TURKEY

This was a simple database application that allows the firm to keep
information about customers, water sales, billing, water stocks, etc.
Murat Yaman designed and developed the project using MS Access 2000 and VBA.

Fazıl Textile Industries, Istanbul, TURKEY

Oct 1999

This was a database application that allows the firm to keep stock
information and get some reports. Database development was done on Windows
and MS Access 97. It was used within LAN.

Atateks Textile Companies, Istanbul, TURKEY

Aug 1998 – May 1999

Murat Yaman’s Role:

* Updated LAN (from Novel to Windows with NT 4 Server) and added new computers.

* Database: He designed and programmed 15 databases for production planning,
stock control, employee productivity, customer risk analysis, etc. The
managers could get all kinds of information about the production, production units,
employees, resources, costs, and so on and so fort.
Especially, production planning and stock control databases affected the factory’s productivity a lot.

* Instructor: He taught users how to operate the software.

* Help Desk: He helped users with all queries on Windows and software installations.

 

Oskar Transport, Istanbul, TURKEY

May 1998

This was a database application that allows the firm to keep information about
customers, drivers and trucks (debts, credits, projects, etc.). Users were able
to obtain a variety of reports.

Murat Yaman’s Role:

* Designed and developed the project using MS Access 97 and VBA.

* Added some new features and upgraded the software at various intervals, after finishing the project.

 

Koc University, Istanbul, TURKEY

Koc University

During Math education at Koc University, our director worked part-time.
His Role:

* IT department computer lab: Help desk for other students.

* Italian Language Centre: (Project-based) Together with a friend, he developed a
program manager to control language programs, play sound files showing related
text documents, which also auto-mounted related CDs in a jukebox within a Novell
Netware network.

* Help a blind student to study his lessons and dictate his books.
